Marie Sklodowska-Curie PhD positions are now open

Marie Sklodowska-Curie PhD fellowships

in Computational Physics and Engineering

The project “Enabling the next generation of computational physicists and engineers” (ENGAGE) is an interdisciplinary, intersectoral and multi-institutional project offering quality training to a total of 20 doctoral students in the fields of Computational High Energy Physics, Multiscale Systems and Synchrotron Light Applications. It aims to develop students’ competencies in High-Performance Computing, in methodologies at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science approaches and Quantum Computing.

Applications for the remaining positions are accepted until the 30th of April 2023. See https://engage.cyi.ac.cy/?page_id=43#phdprojects for more information on the available projects.

Candidates can apply for up to five research projects of their choice ranking them in order of preference. All applications must be uploaded at https://engage.cyi.ac.cy/?page_id=36.

Requirements:

  • High Energy Physics projects

(see projects 1-6 at https://engage.cyi.ac.cy/?page_id=43#phdprojects): Candidates must hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Physics from reputable Universities with outstanding performance record. Candidates with experience in lattice gauge theories, analysis of large data sets, Monte Carlo simulations, quantum computing, simulation algorithms, experience in high-performance computing or any related field will be favoured.

  • Multiscale Systems projects

(see projects 7-13 at https://engage.cyi.ac.cy/?page_id=43#phdprojects): Candidates must hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in physics, chemistry, applied mathematics, engineering, computational science/informatics from reputable Universities, or a related field with outstanding performance record. Proven computational and numerical skills, knowledge of a modern programming language and/or experience in high-performance computing (using e.g., GPU-acceleration) are desirable. Candidates with experience in molecular simulations, high-performance computing or any related field will be favoured.

  • Synchrotron Light Applications projects
  • (see projects 14-20 at https://engage.cyi.ac.cy/?page_id=43#phdprojects):

    • Non-native English speakers or candidates who have not attended an English speaking institution are encouraged to provide proof of linguistic proficiency (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS etc). Such a certificate may be requested at a later stage depending on the recruiting university.
